It is with great pleasure that we can announce that we have now begun the exciting next steps of your child’s "options process." Please find below a summary of the next steps that we will be undertaking and, indeed, supporting your child through.

Pathways to Learning

You are at a very exciting point in your academic career. You can now select 3 subjects from the subject option menu, though many of your subjects are still required. You must carefully select these topics and think about the future career path you want to take.

You can view a list of the courses offered, including those that are required of all students, on this website. Please take the time to carefully read the information and weigh all of your options.


Compulsory Courses

Completing the initial questionnaire

This is where you fill in the first questionnaire, saying which three (plus one contingency) topics you would like to study in an ideal world. Subjects will need to be selected between 3/03/2022 and 10/3/2022. When choosing your subjects, you need to remember that some options are not possible with others, so please read the list below carefully. It is not possible to choose:

Textiles or Art or Photography
Woodwork & Design or Technology
Wales, Europe and the World or History
Wales, Europe and the World or Geography
Hospitality and Catering or Home Cooking Skills
Only one of: Computer Science, Digital Technology and ICT Level 1/2
It is very important to choose the subjects carefully. Discuss your choices at home. Seek the advice of your subject teachers. Ask for help from your Head of Year or Head of Key Stage. Think carefully about what kind of career you would like to pursue before choosing.

What happens next?

The purpose of the option columns is to allow as many students to study as many options as possible. After the columns are created, if a clash occurs, a new topic must be chosen. The last questionnaire will be accessible from March 21 through January 28, 2022. Please note that the topic choices will need to include enough learners to ensure viable groups. If not enough learners have chosen a course, the school may not be able to offer that course. Some subjects are restricted in number due to resources, and if a high number of learners choose these subjects, learners who have shown an aptitude for the subject will be offered the opportunity to study it.
